How To Do A VALVE ADJUSTMENT On Your HONDA PRELUDE | H22 BB6 97-2001

Knowing how to do a valve adjustment can save you a lot of worry and headache. The Honda Prelude is known for its H22 engine. Taking care of the H22 will provide you with years of reliability and performance.

Doing routine valve adjustments will keep your car running at peak performance. The H22 2.2 Liter VTEC engine can also fit into other cars as well, so even though this video is for a Honda Prelude BB6, if you have a H22 then this video is for you.

ONLY ADJUST VALVES WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD, or less than 100 degrees Fahrenheit or (38 degrees Celsius) .

Valve Clearance:
Intake: 0.15 - 0.19 mm (0.006 - 0.007 in)
Exhaust: 0.17 - 0.21 mm (0.007 -0.008 in)

Torque Specs:
Valve Cover torque specs: 8.7 lbf-ft
Ignition wire cover: 7.2 lbf-ft
Alternator Terminal: 6 lbf-ft
Valve adjustment lock nut torque spec is 14 ft lbs

After adjusting the valves torque down the crankshaft pulley bolt to 245 N-m (181 lbf-ft)
