Visiting the National Library of India in Kolkata, one of the most prominent libraries in the country, was something I greatly wished for.

It is one of the four designated libraries entitled to receive a copy of every publication published anywhere in the country.

According to volumes and public records, it is the largest library in India.
With millions of books and records, it holds the largest collection in the country.

There are about 2.27 million books, 8,000 maps, and approximately 3,000 manuscripts in its collection.

The reading room can accommodate around 500 people at once.
