Los Angeles Becomes "Sanctuary City" to Protect Migrants from Trump Deportation | Firstpost America

The United States' second-largest city Los Angeles has passed an ordinance to declare itself a "sanctuary city" for illegal migrants. The ordinance will ban the use of local resources, including city officials and property, to detain someone as part of the federal immigration enforcement effort. The prohibition will also prevent data sharing between Los Angeles officials and federal immigration authorities. This comes a day after US President-elect Donald Trump confirmed he would declare a national emergency and use the military to deport millions of undocumented migrants. Los Angeles had also declared itself a "sanctuary city" during Trump's first term. However, it was only done through a resolution at the time.
