FOR STEAM DECK / LINUX: Click on the gear icon for the game, hit 'Properties' then in the General Tab there is a 'Launch Options' textbox where you'll copy+paste the following command:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" %command%
(and make sure there's a 'space' before %command%)

FOR GOG: launch the game directly from the .exe in the game folder or desktop shortcut. If you launch from GOG Galaxy App you have to turn off Overlay feature.
To turn off overlays, in GOG Galaxy App select the game, to the right of the play button, click the menu button, go to "Manage installation" then "Configure." then go to "Features" tab and uncheck Overlay "Access GOG Galaxy features in-game" otherwise the game opens and closes on GOG.
