The Bahá'í International Community Brussels Office is exploring how social cohesion, the living together and close collaboration between people of all backgrounds in a neighborhood, impacts climate neutrality in cities. We held a conversation with Mayor Mohamed Ridouani of the city of stad Leuven, which is part of the 100 #MissionCities on the path to a #ClimateNeutralEU .

To mitigate global warming, the EU is taking various measures under the #EUGreenDeal to achieve climate neutrality in its member states by 2050 and to meet its commitments in the Paris Agreement. Transformation in cities plays a central role in this process, which is why the European Commission has launched the 100 Climate Neutral and #SmartCities Mission. These 100 cities serve as model cities and aim to be climate neutral and smart by 2030. In this way, successful strategies of change can subsequently be transferred to other cities to ensure #NetZero by 2050.
