This is the new series in which we are going to focus on File Handling. All the functions used for
handling a file are covered in this series. Here, we are going to see how we can perform
manipulation with a file.
In this video, we are going to focus on how we can delete a folder from the operating system. In
the previous video, we have covered how we can delete a single file but here we are going to see
how to delete a folder. Firstly, import a library called os (operating system). After this, there is a
special inbuilt library called “rmdir” which helps in deleting the folder from the directory. The
syntax is:
os.rmdir(“File_name”)
This function helps us in deleting the folder directly. You can even use the if-else condition when
you are not sure whether the file exists or not.
NOTE: This function removes only an empty folder. If the folder is not empty it gives an
operating system error.
