Rubber trees are evergreen trees that are native to the Amazon rainforest in South America. They thrive in hot, humid climates with high rainfall. The ideal conditions for growing rubber trees include:

Well-drained, fertile soil with a slightly acidic pH
Annual rainfall of 2000 to 4500 mm
Minimum and maximum temperatures ranging from 25 to 34°C
High relative humidity (around 80%)
Areas protected from strong winds
Rubber trees are typically propagated by budding or grafting. These methods allow growers to produce trees that are genetically identical to high-yielding parent trees. The trees are planted in rows and carefully maintained throughout their growth cycle. This includes weeding, fertilizing, and pruning.

After about six or seven years, the trees are mature enough to begin tapping. Tapping involves making a shallow incision in the bark of the tree to allow the latex to flow out. The latex is collected in cups and then processed into rubber. A single rubber tree can be tapped for up to 25 years.
