The process requires iTunes and Safari or Chrome. In Safari, you must activate the Develop menu. To do so, check 'Show Develop menu in menu bar' in Safari's Advanced preferences.

The full process is:

Copy link to app in iTunes.
Paste link into Safari address bar.
Control/right-click icon and select 'Inspect Element'.
Control/right-click the link that begins 'a1.phobos' and select 'Edit Attribute'.
Copy and paste the URL to Safari's address bar and hit Return or Enter to load the low-res image.
At the end of the URL, you'll see 175x175-75.jpg - change this to 512x512-75.png and hit Return/Enter to load the high-res art.
