Hello everyone and welcome back to Hacks with Christina. In today’s video, I am going to show you how to clean tarnish off of your jewelry. This is an easy method that you can perform at home so no need to run out to the jewelry store. I’ve taken 5 pieces of jewelry to show you how this method works on each one. I have a pair of silver elephant earrings which are heavily tarnished, a ring, and three necklaces. One necklace is silver while the other two are plated brass. Grab a bowl and line it with aluminum foil, shiny side up. Add about a tablespoon of baking soda, a half a cup of boiling water, a half a cup of vinegar, - which I combined into a glass, and your jewelry. Make sure each piece of jewelry is touching the aluminum foil. After 10 minutes, take out the jewelry and dry it off with a microfiber cloth. This will remove any remaining residue. First up out of the solution was the earrings. I couldn’t believe how good these looked after being heavily tarnished. Not only is the tarnished removed but the earrings shine. Next is the silver necklace. This had a lot of tarnish on the chain and the crevices of the shell. I am really happy about how this one turned out as well. The ring which was probably in the best condition out of all of the jewelry looks really polished. The first brass plated necklace also turned out well after wiping off the excess tarnish with a microfiber cloth. And finally the fleur de le necklace which was heavily tarnished and also had a lot of crevices and hard spots to clean, unfortunately did not look a lot better after sitting in the solution.
