Two People Extricated From Horrific Two Car Crash - January 14, 2023

Phoenix Fire responded to a report of a major two vehicle collision with people trapped in each vehicle. It occurred just before 3 AM Saturday. The accident happned at the intersection of McDowell Rd and I-17. The involved sedan was sent rolling into a chain-link fence in front of the U-Haul storage facility. The hatchback involve became unrecognizable after the heavy impact on the driver side of the vehicle. Crews began extricating both occupants of the vehicles requiring them to cut the door off the hatchback to remove the driver. Both occupants were transported in serious condition but are expected to recover. It is unclear if alcohol or impairment was involved in the accident but speed is likely a factor.
