When the Portuguese took over the control of Goa in the 16th century, they banned all the Indian festivals and only the Portuguese introduced Carnival was allowed. This is a little story of how the converted Christians literally tricked the Portuguese rulers to celebrate this festival by changing its name to Intruz.
