🦟 Detecting insecticide resistance in mosquitoes 🧬 (Lab @ Home Vlog)

Описание к видео 🦟 Detecting insecticide resistance in mosquitoes 🧬 (Lab @ Home Vlog)

This week Jenny tries out two protocols that several of our community members in the US have been developing, using Anopheles gambiae mosquitoes kindly provided by the CDC.

Protocol 1 uses PCR to identify which of the six species within the Anopheles gambiae species complex each mosquito belongs to.

Protocol 2 uses two PCRs to determine whether these mosquitoes possess knockdown resistance mutations (kdr-East or kdr-West) associated with insecticide resistance in East and West Africa, respectively.

Reagents and controls were provided by the CDC Malaria Research and Reference Reagent Resource Center (MR4) as part of BEI Resources. Protocols can be found at www.beiresources.org.
Use of trade names and commercial sources is for identification only and does not constitute endorsement by CDC or the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

New Lab @ Home episodes every Monday.
