SFV: Kolin Tips - Beginner Combos (Definitive Update Edition)

Описание к видео SFV: Kolin Tips - Beginner Combos (Definitive Update Edition)

Want to learn how to play Kolin but don't know where to start? Confused by all the combo videos and waffle? Don't know how to ICE good? Well this is the tutorial for you!

In this tutorial I cover what I believe are the core beginner combos to learn before going on to learn the more difficult hit-confirm and link combos. I also cover a primer to Intermediate Combos, jump-ins, punishing, anti-airs and dealing with fireballs :)

ICE DAMAGE
A few of Kolin's attacks deal "Ice Damage", which aflicts your opponent with the "Ice" effect. When affected by "Ice" your opponent will appear blue in colour and their stun bar does not decrease over time. When the stun bar is maxed they are aflicted by "Freeze" which is basically stun with a cool little ice effect. If you take damage while your opponent is aflicted by "Ice" status they will then lose it and stun will reduce as normal.

V-SKILLS & V-TRIGGERS
I would probably recommend beginners use VS2 as it deals more damage with the target combo and deals ice damage. By itself it is a super slow throw with quite a bit of range so you might be able to get some mileage out of it vs people who don't know how to defend against it. VS1 is unsafe on block so you're taking a bit of a gamble using it outside of the target combo.
I would recommend beginners use VT1, it's just a lot simpler than VT2 on the whole. Pros use VT2 as it makes Kolin's footsie really scary but you really need to have high level footsie skills to make the most of it. Something new about VT1 is you can dash after it to get the ice skating dash from VT2 and can add an extra hit with Hailstorm that can also add wakeup pressure.

VANITY STEP & VT2 DASH
M Vanity Step opens up new target combos, which are available after dash with VT2 active. I have included Brinicle combos as you can throw it out and cancel on hit, on block you won't get the cancel and is -2 so safe.
Cold Low (d+LK d+HK) is a double low but unsafe on block.
Snow Grain (d+MP HP) deals the most damage of the target combos but like Cold Low is unsafe on block so only use if you know you will hit (i.e. after EX Vanity Step to avoid a fireball).

Kolin has a really good target combo (Frost Spike) LP MP HP that is cancelable on hit. It does more damage than a slow starter normally, only when using meter does damage scaling kick in to make it less optimal but difference is still small so you could just use it all the time to make things easy!

Annoyingly Kolin's crush counters push her opponent out of range of all but b+HK, you need to either dash or take a step forward to get a proper combo after. Luckily it's not too hard, so a little practice and you can get it down, I've included these in the "intermediate combos" section :)

I really thing they missed a trick and not have Kolin say "It's so ice to meet you." :P

Any questions about the video, combos, character, game, etc. please leave a comment and I'll do my best to answer :)

If I have time I'll take a second look at Abigail next :)
