Day 5: Cascais

We woke up early in the morning and had brief breakfast in the hotel room because we were going visit Cascais. It takes about an hour to get there from Lisbon. We took the 15E tram from the Pç. Comércio station and then got off at the Cais do Sodré train station. We then took the 19201 Cascais train and got off at the Cascais station. Cascais is a beautiful town along the coastline with many beaches if you want to dip in the water. There was a gorgeous lighthouse as well. There also were many great restaurants to choose from for lunch and dinner.

We decided to go to LovIt (2750-374 Cascais, Portugal) for lunch. It was a great choice. They have large outside seatings under canopy and we sat out there in the patio. The view was just amazing, and the foods we ordered were glorious from appetizer to dessert. The walk after lunch along the shoreline was awesome.

We then went to Boca do inferno (Av. Rei Humberto II de Itália 642, 2750-642 Cascais, Portugal) to see natural archways and caves.

We then went to the Santa Marta Lighthouse (Praceta Farol, 2750-642 Cascais, Portugal). We took the stairs up to the top of the lighthouse to have a good view of the town and the ocean. It was spectacular.

We then walked to Citadel of Cascais (2750-642 Cascais, Portugal) to visit the royal residence and took a photo in front of huge binoculars.

We then had dinner at De Benedictis - Gastronomia Italiana (R. Frederico Arouca 35, 2750-355 Cascais, Portugal). It’s conveniently located, 5-minute walk from Cascais station. The place was packed, and I ordered Burrata salad for an appetizer and 4 cheese pizza for a main dish with a beer. The burrata cheese was outstanding, and the 4 different cheeses on the pizza were also marvelous. We then ended the full-day fun at Cascais and returned to Lisbon by taking the same train back.
