A mother is speaking out after overgrown weeds at a notorious intersection in Etna Township nearly cost her and her infant son their lives, calling for additional safety measures to be put into place.

Cierra Mathews and her son were involved in a serious accident at the intersection of Palmer and Tollgate Roads, a location that has been a concern for Etna Township officials for some time.

Standing in her driveway, Mathews described the scene of the crash to ABC 6, noting that her car is now absent.

"On my left, there is a gigantic hedge that I wasn't able to see around," she said.

Mathews explained that she attempted to inch forward to check for oncoming traffic, believing it was safe to proceed. However, she and her son were T-boned, forcing her to crawl out of the passenger side to reach her son.
