The Long Ride Home 2015

Описание к видео The Long Ride Home 2015

This is the last of the Great Utah Ride of 2015 videos and closes out this video motorcycle touring log. The long ride home took place over four days crossing 2024 miles of the southern US in weather conditions ranging from hot and dry to darn right nasty in thunderstorms. But such is the life of long distance touring motorcyclists!

The first day of travel included a stop at the Pipe Spring National Monument located on the Kaibab-Piaute Indian Reservation, Arizona. We learn about the early Piaute Indians and explore the Winsor Castle built by the Mormon pioneers. Following this stop we parallel the majestic Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, cross the mighty Colorado River, dodge high plateau thunder storms (well almost) and end our day ride in Grants, NM.

The next few days of ride are on Interstate 40. Frankly it is boring when compared with our earlier back country riding. Approaching Memphis we begin once again to dodge the heavy storms associated with this summer season in the Southeast causing us to divert further south towards Birmingham then into Atlanta on the nightmarish Friday of a Fourth of July weekend.

We hope you have enjoyed our travel video log!
