Weather in Spain - Another heat wave lies ahead of us - Will there be a new heat record?

On August 14th, 2021, Montoro (province of Córdoba, Andalusia) reported a new heat record for Spain. A maximum temperature of 47,4 °C was measured in the shade.

According to our GFS model, we will be expecting another heat wave as of Thursday July 7th, 2022. Apparently, said heat wave will persist for the time being becoming more intense by the day. Peak temperatures of up to +- 46 °C have been announced in Seville, Córdoba and Jaén for next week. Our forecast is updated four times a day and one of them even predicted up to 48 °C for next week.

The air humidity will drop below 5 % in the affected areas which means that the wildfire risk will be consistent and extremely high.

Conclusion: Whether there will be a new heat record or not, this heat wave will last a few days and will be demanding on humans, animals and nature.
