Jamie and David Montz created The Original Stretchlace to make wearing shoes easier. Their product turns regular shoelaces into stretchy ones, allowing any shoe to become a slip-on. This simple idea saves time and eliminates the hassle of tying laces, which can be especially annoying when you're in a rush.
Jamie believed in their product so much that she left her job as Amazon's eCommerce Director to focus on it full-time. In 2020, the couple took their idea to "Shark Tank". Jamie explained how she was tired of constantly tying her kids' shoelaces, which inspired the creation of The Original Stretchlace.
At first, none of the Sharks were interested, and Jamie and David were about to leave. But, Robert Herjavec changed his mind and offered them $100,000 for 33% equity. After some negotiation, they settled on a 30% stake.
Since appearing on "Shark Tank," The Original Stretchlace has grown significantly. It's now sold in major stores like Walmart and Target, as well as on Amazon. The company continues to thrive, reaching $1 million in annual revenue by 2024.
