The Magdi Yacoub Aswan Heart Centre (AHC) was launched in 2009 with a mere force of 25 young doctors and nurses under the leadership of Prof Sir Magdi Yacoub OM FRS. Today AHC is a unique state-of-the-art modern heart hospital with more than 700 dedicated staff providing 24/7 world-class, free of charge health services to the underprivileged with heart disease, of which two-thirds are babies under one year of age. In 2019 alone, more than 4000 complex heart procedures were performed.
