The Sands Music Room is a donation-based online space for musicians, started during lockdown of Spring 2020. Each performer is paid a guaranteed amount, and while access remains open to all (free of charge), we encourage viewers to donate via Paypal to support the venue.

Sands Films Music Room is proud to present a second “Fred Thomas Series” of live performances with some of the most striking talents of contemporary music in London.

Barnaby Keen is a British, London-based, multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter. With his project Flying Ibex he has released two albums; 'Travel In Dangerous Places' and 'Habits', and 3 singles which received plaudits from top BBC Radio 6 and BBC Radio 1 DJs. Rooted in improvised dance music and experimental electronic music, their songs also encompass down-beat ballads and an array of acoustic instruments including saxophones, strings and tuned percussion.

Fred Thomas is an ECM artist who studied at the Royal Academy of Music. He is one of London’s most sought after multi-instrumentalists and composer/arranger/producers. A member of the FIRE Collective, he is known for his breadth of musical styles as well as for specialising in creative re-interpretations of J.S. Bach, with solo albums on Odradek and The Silent Howl.
