I have the Google Pixel 7 Pro here and in today's video I'll be showing you how to disable 2G networks for Android.

See, last week it was revealed that some malicious actors were using cell-site simulators, aka False Base Stations to simulate 2G networks. This allowed hackers to use SMS Blasters that could then bypass network-based anti-spam and anti-fraud filters that most of us probably aren't even aware of.

I personally was not familiar with how common this type of attack was, but its usage seems to be ramping up around the world, including Vietnam, France, Norway, Thailand, and a few others.

But we can avoid this by disabling 2G network connectivity within the Settings of our device.

disabling 2G
So we can find this toggle by first launching the Settings application.
And then tapping on Network & Internet.
Then from here, we're going to select the SIMs option.
And then select the SIM card that you want to disable 2G networks with.

Now scroll all the way to the bottom.
And you should see an Allow 2G toggle within this menu.

It is likely going to be enabled by default
And we can disable it with a simple tap.

If you're having difficulty finding this option because your Settings app looks different than what you see here.
Then you could simply use the Search feature at the top of the Settings application.
And then search for the term 2G

I have read that some Samsung Galaxy devices do not have this toggle available to them.
So using the search feature will help you to quickly determine if such a feature is available to you or not.

conclusion
Disabling 2G connectivity on your Android device may make it more difficult to connect to your mobile network
That will all depend on where you are located and how often you connect to a 2G tower.

But with these being used less and less, I suspect that many people won't even notice the difference.
And keeping this disable will improve the security of your Android device by ignoring these cell-site simulators that some hackers have been using lately.
