The funeral for Morrow County Deputy Daniel "Weston" Sherrer is set to take place Wednesday morning at Northmor High School.

The service is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

Later on Wednesday, a funeral procession will travel through Marion County.

The processional route will start on state Route 95, go north on state Route 98, turn east on state Route 309, head into the city of Marion and travel down East Center Street, turn south on South Main Street, continue south on Delaware Avenue, turn onto Vernon Heights Boulevard and into the Marion Cemetery where a private ceremony for the family will take place at the grave site.

A visitation was held on Tuesday, drawing hundreds of community members who came to pay their respects to the fallen deputy and his family.

On May 26, Sheriff John Hinton said his office was called about a domestic situation in the 100 block of County Road 26 in Marengo. Upon arrival, a shooting involving Sherrer occurred.

Sherrer was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. The suspect, identified as 53-year-old Brian Michael Wilson, was also shot and taken to a hospital in serious condition.

Wilson is charged with aggravated murder. He was released from the hospital and had his bond set at $5 million on Tuesday by a Morrow County judge.

Sherrer was a four-year veteran with the sheriff's office. Hinton said Sherrer loved his job and was a godsend for the department.
