Описание к видео Granville T. Woods: The Forgotten “Black Edison” Who Revolutionized Trains 🚂⚡ | Untold Black History

Granville T. Woods (1856–1910), often called the “Black Edison”, was one of the greatest inventors in American history — yet his name is rarely mentioned in schoolbooks. Born to modest beginnings, Woods rose to create inventions that saved lives, modernized railroads, and shaped the world of communication and electricity.

In this documentary-style video, we uncover his story:

⚡ From Childhood to Genius
Granville Woods grew up fascinated by mechanics and electricity. Despite racism and poverty, he trained himself as an engineer and craftsman.

🚂 The Induction Telegraph
His most famous invention allowed trains on the same track to communicate wirelessly. This breakthrough prevented collisions and saved countless lives — a true revolution for railway safety.

🏙 Other Inventions
Woods also improved electric railways, telegraphs, and street lighting. His patents transformed daily life in the late 19th century.

⚖️ Battles with Thomas Edison
Edison challenged Woods’ patents in court, claiming his own rights. Against all odds, Woods fought back and won. But the lawsuits cost him dearly — financially and emotionally.

💰 Racism & Injustice
Although his inventions were groundbreaking, wealthy investors refused to back him. Racism and discrimination meant Woods often had to sell his patents for little money, watching others profit from his genius.

🩺 His Final Years
Woods died sick and poor, with more than 60 patents to his name but little recognition. He never saw the wealth or fame his work deserved.

🌟 His Legacy
Today, every safe train journey carries a piece of Granville Woods’ genius. His fight for innovation, despite the barriers of racism, remains an inspiring story of resilience and brilliance.
