Latency can be frustrating. It is hard to avoid because of the time the computer requires to process data. However, understanding how to set the BUFFER SIZE and using the Low Latency Monitoring Mode can make the recording process much less painful.
Here's a simple tutorial on how to work with these parameters.
These are Logic Pro X terms but the principles are available in almost any DAW.
