Under NABARD Tribal Development Fund support, CRD has implemented the Integrated Tribal Development Project, benefiting 1,096 families in the Aralam Tribal Resettlement area of Kannur district, Kerala (one of the largest tribal resettlements in Asia). In Phase II of the project, a lift irrigation scheme was implemented in the Wayanad area of the project, with community participation. The community was struggling to manage water for irrigating their crops and household purposes due to lack of own water source , water stress condition of the area and frequent elephant raids. The lift irrigation scheme was implemented with a NABARD grant, MGNREGP convergence support, and community shramadhan. A user group of 41 families was formed, and the group is responsible for regular maintenance, payments to the two persons engaged for day-to-day operation of the scheme, electricity bill payments, etc. Each family contributes Rs. 150 per month to meet the expenses. The scheme ensured water at their doorstep, and now they are happy. This video is a story about the scheme.
