COMING OUT TO MY DAD AS TRANSGENDER

I sent my dad a letter a few weeks ago explaining that I am a transgender woman. I waited to tell him because I was so scared of losing him the way I lost my mother. Our relationship has always been distant, but we still had a relationship. I did not want to lose him. Being of Mexican decent with deep Catholic roots, I was terrified he'd shut me out the way my mother did. I was scared of going through that twice. However, after so much thought, I finally felt like it was time to face what I've been avoiding. You can't hide yourself. You must always stay true to the person you are. This has been a battle that I will face my entire life. Through so much hardships and lost of so many, I can finally be myself. This video is the first phone call with my dad as myself. Everything he said was so unexpected. I cannot stress enough how much this phone call means to me. I have felt alone for so long. I have felt so scared for so long. This was absolutely everything I have ever needed. I am finally free.
