The World's Largest Cruise Ship Arriving in Miami, as Filmed from a Miami Metrobus

So this morning I decided, at the last minute, to ride the new route 14 (in its present form, it is a weak semi-replacement for routes C and M) to see how it does in the morning rush hour...spoiler alert, I'm not impressed...but anyway, because I decided to do that, I was able to witness the arrival into the Port of Miami of Royal Caribbean's "Icon of the Seas", the first of their Icon-class cruise ships, and the largest cruise ship in the world. Miami will be its home port.

The ship was built by the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland, with final outfitting being carried out in Cadiz, Spain, before it passed its sea trials and headed to San Juan where it spent the holidays before coming here. Its maiden voyage is scheduled to leave here on January 27th. There were people aboard the ship, maybe staffers in training, not sure, but it is a party atmosphere as the ship arrived in Miami at this early hour, including thumping, booming music that I do not own the rights to. It is one BIG beast! And lots of people turned out to see it, parked alongside the Causeway and snarling up traffic as we worked our way by. All in good fun!!
