Around 12:45 AM on May 31, 2024, Officer Sean Delaporte with the Beach Haven Police Department observed a gray 2015 Jeep Wagon blow through a stop sign near Centre Street and N Bay Avenue. He activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop, and the driver pulled over into a parking space in front of Buckalew’s Restaurant & Tavern. He exited his patrol car and made contact with the driver, who was identified as 22-year-old Kayle Crocco.

She told him that she was coming from a show earlier that evening. She denied consuming any alcohol earlier that evening, but he detected the odor of alcohol. The officer also noticed a wristband on her arm. After another officer arrived on scene to assist, Kayle was asked to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety exercises.

The first exercise was the Walk and Turn test. During the Walk and Turn test, Kayle failed to touch heel-to-toe on each step and turned improperly. The second exercise was the One Leg Stand test. During the One Leg Stand test, Kayle failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion and put her foot down before the test was complete. The final exercise was the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test.

Based on her erratic driving, the odor of alcohol, and her inability to satisfactorily complete the field sobriety exercises, Officer Delaporte placed Kayle under arrest for driving under the influence. Kayle’s vehicle was impounded by South Shore Towing for a 12-hour hold according to John’s Law. Officer Delaporte transported Kayle to the Beach Haven Police Department for further processing.

Kayle was read the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators at the station, but she refused to provide breath samples. After the officers finished processing her, she was released to her boyfriend pending her court appearance after he signed the Potential Liability Warning form on Kayle’s behalf.

Officer Delaporte issued Kayle the following citations:
-Operating under the influence (39:4-50)
-Refusal to submit to chemical test (39:4-50.4A)
-Disregarding a stop sign (39:4-144)

Court records indicate that on June 2, 2025, Kayle pleaded guilty to operating under the influence. As a result of her conviction, Kayle had to use an ignition interlock device for 3 months, spend 12 hours at an intoxicated driver resource center, and pay a total of $640 in fines.

Kayle has previously been arrested for criminal mischief (2C:17-3A(1)) in Harvey Cedars, New Jersey on September 7, 2022.
