If you didn't know, an 'alm' is a meadow on a hill and it's a big part of Austrian culture & culinary experience.

Let me elaborate. 🙂

We woke up at the break of dawn to join Jürgen from the Hallerwirt gasthof to his alm where he continues an over 300 year old tradition of herding and milking cows the way it's always been done.

The cows just spent the night on the alm and came back to their shed to produce some fresh milk for his happy customers down the valley.

It's quite the experience to watch these magnificent beasts come home after a night out. 🙂

After waving the cows goodbye we hopped on an ebike with Tom from Lifesporthotel #Hechenmoos and made a beautiful uphill ride (thank god for ebikes!) to another alm, the #Bruggeralm.

This 400 year old gasthof with a truly spectacular view welcomed us with open arms and served us some beautiful traditional #kitzbühel Tirolean lunch.

We truly are living like gods in Austria.
