1x10 Restomod Retro Mountain Build For My Son - Handsome Dog

In this video I’ll be building up this 90’s Handsome Dog Retro mountain bike for my 11 year old son. To simplify the gears and keep it easy for him to use I’m going for a 1x10 Deore system with narrow-wide chainring on the front. This will give a nice wide range of gears without the complications of 3 rings on the front confusing things. I’ve gone with Deore v brakes with the old LX levers because they’re great for small hands and very sharp even with the lightest of squeezes. Don’t hate on the Marin decals too much.. That's how my son wanted it to look and trying to find a very small red aluminium Marin in nice condition proved to be quite difficult. This frame popped up for £20 and it was just perfect. The decals will be removed if it ever gets sold on :-)
