Does Echogenic Bowel Mean Down Syndrome? - My Story

Описание к видео Does Echogenic Bowel Mean Down Syndrome? - My Story

In this video, I share my story about my baby's diagnosis of echogenic bowel means and how it affected my son and pregnancy. I'll discuss the outcome of the echogenic bowel that was found in my 20 week scan.

Echogenic bowel can be detected in an ultrasound. It is basically when the bowel shows brighter or as bright as bone in an ultrasound scan.

The echogenicity of the fetal bowel is assessed during second-trimester obstetric ultrasound examinations because increased echogenicity is a marker for several fetal disorders, including some aneuploidies (most commonly trisomy 21, 13, and 18), down syndrome, cystic fibrosis (CF), some gastrointestinal abnormalities.
