RAKUTO KURANO: Adventure to Ruby Island

Our SOUNZ Films five year retrospective of the music of Rakuto Kurano closes with ‘Adventure to Ruby Island’, a piece composed just this year. It was inspired by a trip to the eponymous island, the closest and most accessible island to Wānaka township, in May 2022.

Performing ‘Adventure to Ruby Island’ were Gabriel Baird (bassoon), Justin Hodges (violin), Aya McLarty (violin), Henry Nicholson (viola), Ingrid Kosaka (cello) and Rakuto Kurano (piano).
