Originally a bakery mistake these ooey gooey butter bars are a fortunate mistake. With a yellow cake base and a soft gooey cream cheese layer on top they are so good!! There is no cake mix required!!

Ingredients for Small Batch:
2 Tbsp butter, salted and softened
2 Tbsp granulated sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 Tbsp beaten egg, save the rest for later.
6 Tbsp all purpose flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
2 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 Tbsp beaten egg
1 cup powdered sugar

In a medium size bowl combine butter, sugar and extract and cream together.
Add in flour, baking powder and salt. Mix until flour is combined.
Spread into the bottom of a parchment paper lined 9 x 5 inch bread pan in an even layer.
In another bowl combine 2 oz. cream cheese, 2 Tbsp beaten egg and 1 cup powdered sugar, stir until smooth.
Pour over top of bottom layer and then bake in a 350 degree F oven for 25 minutes or until set and lightly golden brown on top.
Allow to. cool for 5 minutes and then remove from pan and cool completely (if desired) before cutting
