Colin Hancock is a fine multi-instrumentalist who grew up in the Austin, Texas area. He calls the cornet his primary instrument but can play clarinet and saxophone just as well -- I've even heard him play string bass and drums; doesn't seem like there's an instrument he can't play!
If that's not enough, he has an encyclopedic knowledge of the early history of jazz on a national level as well as a regional level. What's more? He is also something of an expert on acoustic recording technology. Do check out his YouTube Channel if you're interested in his study of wax cylinder recording.

It's an honor to know this fantastic musicianer! Colin's also a wonderful friend and inspiration. He's dedicated in his approach and open in his interpretation. His demeanor is warm and welcoming and his spirit is light. In other words, he's a well-rounded and capable musicianer. Austin can be proud to claim him.

In this video, Colin opted to play "Stomp It, Mr. Kelly," better known as "I'm Gonna Stomp Mr. Henry Lee". He explained to me that It was done by the Jimmy Joy band (from Austin) as an homage to Peck Kelly in 1925.
