May is Older Americans Month, Celebrate a Senior Whenever Possible

May is Older Americans month. It was a proclamation that was brought in 1963 by JFK, and became this National Senior Citizens month, in 1963. A couple years later, President Johnson turned it into Older Americans month. it was was to raise awareness and encourage community involvement. A third of all seniors lived in poverty, with very few social programs available to support them.
