In 2019, Urmila Devi lived in one of Kolkata’s most affluent neighborhoods, Ballygunge, with her youngest son Balraj, his wife, and their children. Before moving forward, let me tell you that Kolkata is the capital of the state of West Bengal and is also known as the City of Joy. On the other hand, Ballygunge, one of the city's wealthiest areas, is home to attractive cafes and restaurants. Urmila Devi, a 65-year-old widow, had three sons, all of whom were married.

Urmila's eldest son, Mandeep Jund, had married a woman named Dimple, and the couple had two daughters named Kanika and Gunjan. However, from a young age, Gunjan had been mentally disturbed, and in 2014, Mandeep passed away for unknown reasons. Since then, Dimple no longer lived with her mother-in-law Urmila, but instead resided with her two daughters in her own flat at Hazra Road. Urmila’s second son was named Deepak Jund.
