Major Tom - Peter Shilling - Guitar Tutorial - by Barry Harrell

Hi Everyone,

This is my version of how to play Major Tom. The video is a little long, but there is a lot to cover. But still, I think I could have made it a bit shorter and will strive to do that with future “how to” videos.

I added the original YouTube cover I did at the end of this video so you can play along with me – or - to reference if I did not explain something well. Send me a note if you have any questions – and please reference the time in the video that your question is about.

I am sorry if there are too many mistakes, but please remember that I am doing this for free and am not trying to make money on my videos. :) Also, my arthritis kicks in and makes is even more difficult.

My name is Barry and my mother was disabled and lived with my disabled sister in another state so we did not get to see each other very often. She used to love to hear me sing and play so I started this YouTube channel to do just that. Sadly, she passed away in May of 2014 just a week before Mother’s Day and is we miss her very much. Of course my sister is still there and she too loves to listen to me too so I will keep uploading songs so that she can watch the videos when she wants too. My sister was riding a horse that was hit by a car and both the horse and the car rolled over her. That happened when she was just about 21 years of age and she has had a difficult life but she, like my mom who had brain cancer are both troopers and I love them very much. So this site is just a great way of sharing that love.

I wanted to say thank you to all of the wonder people who left such nice messages that included best wishes for my mom. She and I both appreciated them a great deal.

Please note that I do not have tabs or anything as I play by ear so I cannot give them you if you ask. Sorry about that.
