Simulink-FlightGear Co-simulation for the Visualization of the CALLISTO Reusable Rocket Trajectory

Описание к видео Simulink-FlightGear Co-simulation for the Visualization of the CALLISTO Reusable Rocket Trajectory

The current fast-paced development of reusable rockets requires more advanced visualization techniques which go beyond the classical use of telemetry and plots.

This video shows the outcome of a co-simulation approach, in which Simulink, a state-of-the-art tool widely used in the Guidance, Navigation, and Control community is coupled with FlightGear, a modern open-source visualization software typically used for aircraft simulation. The two software communicate with each other through an ad-hoc UDP protocol, leading to the possibility to explore for the first time the use of FlightGear to visualize not only the trajectory and the attitude of the CALLISTO reusable rocket, but also more complex mechanisms, like the fins deployment and the legs unfolding.
