Formerly known as Campoolie, Khopoli is predominantly an industrial town and part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The locality is adjacent to the Mumbai-Pune Express Highway. It is a developing area primarily driven by affordable property prices and industrial units present here.

Khopoli falls under the Khalapur Taluka of Raigad District. It is located at the base of the Sahyadri mountain range. Additionally, the Patal Ganga River flows through the area. Khopoli has several sub-localities, including Anand Nagar, Sri Swami Samarth Nagar, Kambe, and Yashwant Nagar.

Infrastructure Index: Many resorts and farmhouses in this area are visited frequently by those looking for a day’s outing. Khopoli is home to Khopoli Industrial Estate, Alta Laboratories Limited, Mahindra Sanyo Pvt Ltd, Tata Hydro Electric Power. Reliance Industries Ltd is about half an hour’s drive away from Khopoli. There are schools such as Gagangiri English International School, YAK Public School, and Shishu Mandir Khopoli. Colleges such as Khopoli Polytechnic, K.M.C. College of Arts Science and Commerce are also located here. Further, Paranjpe Hospital, Sanjivani Hospital, Jakhotia Nursing Home and Spandan Hospital are in and around the locality.

While there are no shopping malls in Khopoli, the area has several retail stores tending to the needs of the residents here. Shopping centres like Samuel’s Super Market and Aliana City Plaza are nearby.

Tourist attractions like Zenith Waterfall and several resorts are a part of this area. AdlabsImagicaa, a 130-acre theme park, is about 10 km and 30 minutes away. Even Khandala Ghat is 11.5 km. One of the temples of Ashtavinayak Yatra, Mahad Varadvinayak Ganpati, is also located in Khopoli.

Connectivity Index: VO: NH 48 passes through the locality, making it easily accessible from Mumbai and Pune. Additionally, Pen-Khopoli Road and Old Khandala Ghat are major approaching roads. Khopoli has its railway station on the Central Line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway. Additionally, LowjeeRailway Station is at about 2 km. There are auto-rickshaws available for the local commute. The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport is about 75 km away and takes almost two hours to reach. The upcoming Navi Mumbai InternationalAirport would be about 42 km from Khopoli.

Civic Issues: Power cuts in Khopoli are usual. And despite easy accessibility, one may not find many Ola and Uber cabs readily available in this area. Internal areas, which are not yet developed, need proper street lighting. There are bumpy internal roads that are a cause of concern for many residing here.

Khopoli enjoys lush green spaces making it a popular weekend and second home destination for Mumbaikars and Punekars. With affordable property prices, many buyers and investors are turning to this locality.
