How to reduce Google Chrome RAM usage
Are you tired of your computer feeling like it's stuck in quicksand while you're using Google Chrome for your web research? Well, you're not alone! In this video, we're going to show you how to tackle this memory-munching monster and bring your computer back to life.
Let's dive in and learn how to fix Google Chrome from using so much RAM.
1. Like in this video example, close all unnecessary opened tabs on your Google Chrome.
2. Click on the three vertical dots of the menu at the top right.
3. Click on the Settings from the drop-down menu list.
4. Type hardware acceleration In the search bar.
5. Make sure that you blue button of Use hardware acceleration when available is Enabled, if not then turn it ON.
6. Restart your Google Chrome browser.
7. Click on the extension icon at the top, then click on the Manage Extensions option.
8. See the list of your installed extensions, and remove the unused extensions.
9. Open Chrome Task Manager, to do so, press Shift + Esc keys on your keyboard.
10. Select the task that is not in use and showing in the list, and then click on the End process button.
11. Close the Task Manager window, and go to the settings page in Chrome.
12. Type clean in the Chrome search bar, and click on the Clear browsing data option.
13. Make sure the Time range of All time and checkboxes are selected, then click on the Clear data button.
14. If all the above steps are not working for you then click on the Reset settings from the left panel.
15. Click on the Reset settings button in the confirmation box.
16. In the Chrome search bar, type background apps.
17. Turn off the button to Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed.
