During a 2011 trip to the Amazon under tough conditions, our guide made a jig out of tree bark -- and it outproduced everything else. When we went back the following year, the bite was better on prop baits and jerkbaits, so we never used the "tree jig" again. Still, it sits in my office, an amazing reminder of our inaugural trip to the Rio Negro.
