EXPROPRIATION

in April 2022 in the Vaartkapoen in Brussels. Sista MIKA was among the artists Omar invited to pay a live tribute during the event.
In collaboration with Ras Mundele, 'EXPROPRIATION' was written on 'Flames Of The Dragon', a song which Scratch recorded at the Black Ark Studio in 1975. The fact that our world now has so many displaced people prompted SISTA MIKA to tell the story of the eviction she experienced as a teenager. Together with others, the Michalakoudis family was forced to leave their home in favor of the financial interests of politicians and property developers who leveled the entire street. This is followed by the message to value your own roots and never to deny them.
Since the song was acclaimed during the homage to Lee Perry, a recording followed a little later in the PJ1800 studio in Vilvoorde. While she was in Kingston during the spring, working on the recordings for an upcoming album in a production by Errol 'FLABBA' Holt, the final touches were also being made to the single 'EXPROPRIATION'. In his Prolific Records Studio, Chad Tucker aka DJ Blacket, arranged, mixed and produced the final version of the song. The accompanying music video footage was also recorded around this time.
