NYFF58 Talk: Tsai Ming-liang

Описание к видео NYFF58 Talk: Tsai Ming-liang

An unparalleled portraitist of loneliness and longing, Tsai Ming-liang returned to NYFF with Days: his first feature since 2013’s Stray Dogs, and undoubtedly one of his best, sparest, and most intimate films. We were delighted to welcome the legendary Taiwanese director for an extended conversation about this latest entry in his masterful, decades-spanning oeuvre, moderated by NYFF Director of Programming Dennis Lim and interpreted by Vincent Cheng. Tsai chatted at length about his introduction to cinema as a college student in Taipei, the story of how he met his muse, Lee Kang-sheng, and the ways in which his approach to filmmaking—and to capturing time—has changed over the years. He also assuaged any fears of his retirement by revealing that he has made three short films in quarantine!

All NYFF58 Talks are presented by HBO.
