In this video, I'm gonna tell you that researchers created a new form of ice MDA (medium-density amorphous ice). This ice is as dense as water and arrange in a hexagonal lattice. Researchers have created MDA (medium-density amorphous ice) with a disorganized structure and a density exactly similar to liquid water. MDA ice doesn't have an organized molecular structure like the crystalline structure of ice that forms naturally on Earth. This new medium-density amorphous ice is Goldilock's version of amorphous ice with the same liquid water density. According to the researchers at University College London, MDA (medium-density amorphous ice) is a completely new form of ice. MDA crystalline structure of ice is one of the weird quirks of water, it floats on liquid water in its solid state rather than sinking. LDA (low-density amorphous ice) is the most common form of ice in the universe. In the 1980s, researchers formed HDA (high-density amorphous ice) by compressing regular ice at very low temperatures. Steel balls sheared & compressed the ice crystals and created hydrogen bonds of MDA (medium-density amorphous ice) arranged in a hexagonal lattice. The density of MDA is 1.06 grams per cubic centimetre while the density of water is 1 gram per cubic centimetre.
