Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications is a national "double first-class" construction university and a class A construction university of the Jiangsu High level University Summit Plan. Its predecessor is the Eighth Route Army War Post Training Class, which was born in the Shandong Anti Japanese Base in 1942. It is one of the schools where our party and army systematically trained communication talents at the early stage. In 1958, with the approval of the State Council, it was transformed into a undergraduate university and named Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications; In April 2005, it was renamed Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications. The university was originally a key university directly under the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and the Ministry of Information Industry. Since 2000, it has been jointly built by the central and local governments (now the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State Post Bureau and Jiangsu Province). In 2017, it was selected as one of the first batch of "double first-class" construction universities in China, and in 2022, it was again selected as the second round of "double first-class" construction universities. In October 2013, the former Nanjing Institute of Population Management Cadres was formally incorporated into Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications. The school adheres to the spirit of "faithfulness and self-improvement in the world" in Nanyou, practices the school motto of "kindness, perseverance, seeking truth, and steadfastness", and promotes the school spirit of "diligence, seeking truth, progress, and innovation". At present, the school has developed into a university with engineering as the main body and electronic information as the characteristic, integrating multiple disciplines such as science, engineering, economics, management, humanities, education, art, law, etc., and coordinating the development of multi-level education such as postdoctoral, doctoral, master's, undergraduate, etc. The school is located in Nanjing, a famous historical and cultural city. It has four campuses, namely Xianlin, Sanpailou, Suojin Village and Jiangning, and 25 colleges (departments and centers). In addition, it has held an independent college in Yangzhou - Tongda College of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications.
The school actively promotes international exchange and cooperation. Selected into the National 2017 "Plan 111" ("111 Program" for short); We recruit overseas students from more than 60 countries, including Russia and Kazakhstan, at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels. Currently, there are more than 800 international students on campus. More than 1000 foreign experts and scholars have come to the university to participate in international conferences, lectures and visits. There are more than 80 overseas exchange programs for students. With the cooperation of Portland State University in the United States, the Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications Portland College, a Sino foreign cooperative school, has been established to enroll students at three levels, master's degree and doctoral degree. Actively participate in various conferences organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), undertake training tasks for the Asia Pacific Telecommunications Organization (APT) in China, and actively participate in the formulation of relevant international standards in the field of communication.
