Road Recovery honors the resilient Wayne Kramer (MC5, Jail Guitar Doors USA) who sadly passed away on February 2, 2024. In continuing the celebration of the incredible life of brother Wayne, we share this archival performance of the MC5 classic “Kick Out the Jams” at the 2009 Road Recovery Benefit Concert. In honoring Wayne at the benefit, Road Recovery made it possible for him to play a live show with his friends and also speak with the inmates at Sing Sing Correctional Facility, an experience that sparked his amazing charity Jail Guitar Doors USA (read about it below). Dreams came true for Wayne by performing at the Nokia Theatre NYC with special guests/friends Iggy Pop, Little Steven, Perry & Etty Farrell, Jerry Cantrell, Tom Morello, Gilby Clarke, Carl Restivo, Eric Gardner, Don Was and many more.

Our non-profit dove into our video archives to present for the very first time, this never-before-seen music performance of “Kick Out the Jams” from our charity’s 2009 benefit concert honoring Wayne Kramer. What do all these performing musicians in the video have in common? They’re all supporters of Road Recovery - a non-profit that strives to help 10-25-year-olds manage (or avoid) the pitfalls and challenges of behavioral issues, physical or mental health trauma, poverty, or drug or alcohol dependency. Established in 1998, Road Recovery is an entertainment industry-driven non-profit organization dedicated to helping young people battle addiction and other adversities by empowering at-risk youth from all backgrounds to face their struggles while teaching them comprehensive life skills.
