BONNIE POINTER Tribute: Heaven Must Have Sent You

One month shy of her 70th birthday, Bonnie Pointer, one of the 4 sisters that were the original line up of the successful pop/country/r&B act The Pointer Sisters, has passed away, today, June 8, 2020. Sister Anita admits that Bonnie was most integral to the actual formation of the group, and was a co=writer of the Grammy award winning crossover hit 'Fairytale' in 1974. This was also my entree to the Sisters' Pointer and a wonderful musical postcard. (It is on my channel and was one of my early clips; and among my most viewed). Bonnie left the quartet, to pursue a solo career, but even with a couple of modest successes, her venture paled next to the pop and dance chart dominance that June, Ruth and Anita managed to achieve between 1979 and 1990. Here I have paid tribute to the second sister who has died (June, in 2006) by using her 1979 pop hit 'Heaven Must Have Sent You' - which was a Motown cover (Bonnie signed to the label and married one of its Producers.) It reached #11 in America and #31 here in Australia, but was a sleeper of a hit and was still in the charts into 1980.. Bonnie would score a follow up with ''I Can't Help Myself' - another classic Motown song.
