If you hope for a fast delivery of your baby, you might want to reconsider. Some women DO go through what is called “rapid” labor (or precipitous labor) and most of them prefer not to do it ever again. In this video, Nathalie Kaufmann, Pregnancy and Birth Consultant and TCM Therapist, and Mathias Ritter, Researcher and Science Geek, tell you why!
First, they explain what normally happens when you go into labor and how long it normally lasts on average from the start of your contractions until your baby is born.
Based on that, they then explain what precipitous labor is exactly, and how long it normally lasts according to scientists and practitioners. They also discuss how precipitous labor may feel different from normal labor.
Next, they discuss the risks of precipitous labor based on the fact, that everything goes so fast.
Moreover, they discuss the risk factors and what causes precipitous labor and if it is possible to prevent precipitous labor at all.
Finally, they also explain what you can do, if you are in precipitous labor.
