Sir William Robertson DSO - Rising From The Ranks

Sir William Robertson is the only person ever to have risen from a Private soldier to Field Marshal in the history of the British Army.

He served as Chief of the Imperial General Staff (Britain’s most senior professional soldier) for two years during the First World War.
