Ágora Mall is the new shopping center in Santo Domingo that thanks to its construction, design and management process is certified under the standards of the LEED program, developed by the United States Green Building Council. This certification endorses it as a green building, the first of its kind in the country. Its simple design responds to the fast-track mode, which consists of putting anchor stores at the ends and distributing small stores between them.

THE KEY CHARACTERISTICS OF THIS CERTIFICATION ARE THE CORRECT SELECTION OF THE SITE, THE SAVING OF WATER, THE ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND THE USE OF RENEWABLE, RECYCLED AND NON-POLLUTING MATERIALS.
The Ágora Mall work is a reinforced concrete structure of 130,000 m2 of construction, divided into three buildings separated by construction joints. It consists of an eleven-level parking building (three underground), with reinforced concrete walls, footings, columns and beams, and hollow-core slab; a six-level anchor store building (two underground), with metal forged mezzanines (metal decking), and a six-level medium and small store building (two underground) with waffle-type lightened slab.

The central atrium type skylight (sky-light) has the shape of an ellipse measuring 40 x 60 m; about 2,400 m2 roofed with ETFE system, supported by beams that reach flight lengths of up to 7 m. EFTE is a fluoroplastic originally used for naval architecture that is characterized by excellent electrical and chemical resistance, low friction, and outstanding stability at high temperatures. The construction materials used are 90% recycled: plaster, fiberglass and metal (it is assumed that 35% of the steel used is recycled content).

The building is certified by the United States Green Building Council's LEED (Leadership in Energy and Enviromental Design) program, endorsing it as a sustainable building.
